SVNSW has lots of beach action coming up, especially for juniors!
1. September 9, 2017 – Beach Volleyball Coaching Workshop – Best Approaches and Practices to Coaching Juniors on the Beach
SVNSW will be running a Coaching Workshop focusing on strategies, approaches, drills and modifications that can be used when coaching Junior Players (from approx. 10 -19) on the beach. The workshop will be at Maroubra Beach, from 12:00 – 5:00 PM with members of Volleyball Australia joining to assist in leading the workshop. This is a great place for new coaches, indoor coaches looking to help with beach, or experienced beach coaches to learn more skills and add resources to their coaching repertoire. More details will be available soon including costs, itinerary and registration forms, but please start spreading the word in the meantime and stay tuned to our Facebook and website.
2. October 4-6, 2017 – SVNSW Beach Camp #2 – Manly Beach – Athletes and Coach registration forms welcome
We are running our second beach camp for Juniors on Manly Beach October 4-6. Registration for athletes is now open and information is on our website. Campers receive a SVNSW water bottle and long sleeve shirt if they register. There will be 4 courts, from Beginner – Advanced to cover all skill levels and it is highly recommended if you have juniors looking to tryout for the SVNSW Beach Team this year that they attend to get training in before tryouts in November.
We are also looking for coaches for this camp! Please spread the word and encourage any interested members to apply.

3. November 18-19, 2017 – SVNSW Beach Team Tryouts – Manly Beach
There will be a two day tryout at Manly Beach for juniors wishing to be considered the State Beach Team program. We are now accepting applications for coaches, and we will be taking teams for boys and girls for U15, U17 and U19.

4. November 20 – Primary School Beach Cup – Manly Beach
We will be running a school tournament for primary aged students at Manly Beach to bring students down to the beach during volleyfest. More details to come. Teams will be made up of 5 athletes, with 4 on the court at a time in a diamond. Information will be sent out soon.
5. November 21 – Secondary School Beach Cup – Manly Beach
Same as the Primary School Cup, however teams of 3 in a triangle or 2 in pairs will be played depending on which division you enter. More information coming soon.
6. SVNSW Junior Beach League
We will be running a Junior Beach League that will take place every 3 weeks in Manly/Maroubra (flipping venues every 3 weeks the league meets to play). Teams will play 3- 4 matches each time they meet for the league, and will move up, down or stay in their pool depending on how they finish. There will be a State Championship at the end of the season to crown our best U13, U15, U17 and U19 teams. Details to follow.
7. SVNSW Junior Beach Academy – Manly Beach, Fridays 4:00 – 5:30
We are currently running an after school program on Fridays at Manly Beach, our Junior Beach Academy. Sessions are $10.00 and you can come to as many or as few as you’d like. We have top coaches including current and past State Team coaches. This is a great chance to learn for the first time or fine tune skills if you are transitioning back from indoor. Athletes range from 9-17 years of age and are split onto separate courts.
8. Volleyfest: November 18-25 – Details will be posted on our website soon

As you can see we have lots coming up for our Juniors! We highly encourage any indoor juniors to play beach in the off season for some excellent cross training opportunities and fun. If you have players who are keen on playing, we do suggest they join a beach club as they offer junior training on the weekend to prep for the tournaments and go for the State Championship Title!
